Actually playing with fire

On the 4th, the Reeds had us over for their annual "Barbecue and Fireworks Extravaganza!" Jeff always makes sure that the little kids have plenty of sparklers to keep them busy while the big kids and dads are being Pyromaniacs.
A glow-stick was closer to Joey's speed. I told him to hold it by his face while I took his picture.

This is where things started to get crazy--We learned the hard way that firecrackers can really burn. Some burning embers floated into Frank's sandals and burned him before he could get them off...OUCH!

Kids, make sure you have a responsible adult present when you play with matches. Also, make sure that the responsible adults can find a hose in the dark when their fireworks light the neighbor's bushes on fire!First of all, can you believe how bright my flash is on my new camera? These are the charred remains of the bush that was on fire. Talk about an exciting Independence Day!

Where's the picture of the burning bush, a responsible adult would have taken pictures instead of looking for the hose--sounds like a fun day!
